No, not the disreputable kind

the kind a plane does when it turns…

on our course the subject ot banking often comes up. Why doesn’t everything slip sideways people ask. The reason is that the plane makes its own ‘gravity ‘ when turning so that everything and everyone inside feels as if  down…is towards their feet …even if the plane is banked over. The reason that you don’t feel as if you’re turning is the same as these cyclists going around a banked circuit…they are going fast enough not to slip down.

they could go even higher up the slope if they could ride fast enough.

So if you’ve ever wondered why your drink doesn’t spill when the plane is turning this is why!
