Civil Aviation Authorities |

There are almost two million flights taking place in the world everyday and every country in the world which operates aircraft has a civil aviation authority of some type. It is those authorities that have led to air travel being the safest form of travel available today. The world organisation governing and advising countries on international policies and standards is ICAO The International Civil Aviation Organisation. The ICAO ensures that common standards are applied throughout the world. This enables an airline of one nation to operate its aircraft into the territory of other nations and be confident that all standards are met regarding aircraft safety, operating and crew standards. These standards foster the safety and security of civil aviation around the world. Currently, 188 countries are members of the organization.
The CAA is staffed with very experienced people from all branches of aviation, engineers, surveyors, doctors, air traffic control officers, pilots, lawyers cabin crew, management and organisational experts. Numerous committees and boards are responsible for the enforcement of the Air Navigation Orders, all designed to minimize risk and improve safety in the air. Within the next few years many of the national authorities in Europe will be integrated into one organisation, the EASA. This will provide a consolidated European air safely authority. Below are links to some of the major Aviation Authority web sites. These sites are not designed for the traveling public and so can be of a very specific and technical nature, however, if re-assurance around the multiple layers and laws around aircraft safety will help you with your fear of flying, then we recommend you browse them. If you have any questions then don't hesitate to contact one of our team. |
