Many of the major airlines provide courses to help people to deal with their fear of flying. The courses are run by pilots and cabin crew and usually consists of a morning where you are able to listen to lectures and presentations about flying. Often a psychologist or therapist gives a lecture about the fear of flying. There is a period when you can have your questions answered. Following this there is the opportunity to fly with the course providers. The advantage of this sort of course is that you are able to use the momentum of the course and the presence of other fearful fliers to give you confidence to get on board and fly. There is no doubt that most people do enjoy success on these courses. They also provide the 'experience' of a flight which can provide you with a method of building confidence which you can develop and use to deal with your anxieties on subsequent flights.
