JET ENGINES

$20,000,000

This is a very brief description of engines to re-assure you that they are very reliable and that you shouldn’t worry about them having a problem. The first thing to remember is that they cost in the region of 20,000,000 dollars each, so they’re well manufactured with quality parts and lots of research and development.
Secondly they are regularly maintained and they have to be serviced according to a schedule of work that is approved by Law.
Jet engines go round rather than up and down like the internal parts of a car engine, so they are subjected to far less stress than your car engine.

TURBOPROP ENGINES

Engine lightbox-308

A modern turbo-propeller engine

Are jet engines with a propeller on the front.
They enjoy the reliability and low fuel consumption of a jet and the low speed efficiency of a propeller.
Turbo prop engines are used for short range aircraft with a cruising height of about 25000 feet.
Very modern ones like the one shown here have very advanced propellers.
Fuel consumption even at  low and medium altitudes is better than a jet engine
Are used on a wide variety of civil and military aircraft

CONVENTIONAL PISTON ENGINES

This is a very old fashioned Piston Engine

These engines run at much lower speeds than car engines.
They are more regularly maintained than car engines.
They are better quality than car engines.
They are used on very short range aircraft.
