Holiday in Djerba - Lisa Post your story>

I have listened to the the CD every time i have been in the car and read the book 3 times!

I have just returned from a holiday in Djerba and although I did not enjoy the flights they were certainly much more comfortable having gained the information from your CD and book.

The journey home on Saturday was very bumpy and there was a lot of low cloud as we got nearer the UK, making visability from the windows very poor, but by repeating 'it might be uncomfortable but it is not dangerous' as suggested on the CD, I was able to just concentrate on not being sick!!!!

I had not flown for 20 years as I was so scared on a military flight back then that I vowed I would never do it again but thanks to your CD and book I was able to overcome my fears enough to enjoy a fantastic holiday.

Many thanks again.

Claremt - I did it I did it! Post your story>

"Just got back from four days in Venice. I LOVED FLYING!
I was terrified just before and had bizzare dream the night before that they smothered fearful flyers in cream!!!

Also that my plane couldn't fly because the windscreen was pink! I didn't like the airports, very user-unfriendly in my opinion but once I was on the plane and it took off I LOVED it!

The cabin crew were superb and very reasurring once told I was a fearful passenger. Flying over the Alps was breathtaking and reduced me to tears of joy! Journey back was even better.

I have wasted 18 years being scared of flying after a flight to Jersey. If only I had Keith's book and all of you out there then!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support and thank you to Keith who is now my hero!

To all you fearfuls out there, feel the fear and do it anyway, it's a big beautiful world and we deserve to share it! "

Topaz - I did it, it can be done! Post your story>

I'm back from my 5-day trip to New York (flew direct from Birmingham).

Wow, what can I say - I owe it all to Keith - I read his book - and was unsure how all the info re the plane (noises etc) would help me (suppose I was looking for coping strategies). But having that information (about the plane noises etc) was a godsend - I felt I had some control back on the situation. I was quoting facts etc through most of take off (my partner says I could have given a lecture!).

Outward flight I got a bit upset - but only because I had encountered something not covered in any book - the stupidity of other passengers. I was unfortunately seated behind a very loud woman, who thought it was hilarious to talk very loudly about plane crashes and the twin towers. My partner had to stop me from hitting her!

Once at cruise height however, I really relaxed, and spent most of 7 hour flight staring out of the window! Landing was a little bumpy due to cross winds - but it was ok.

New York is a fantasitc city - and I didn't think of the return flight once! I sat on the plane yesterday, waiting to get nervous about the flight - but I just didn't. Had a very comfortable flight, nice meal, and even slept for 3 hours!

I cannot stress the change in me regarding flying. I also cannot stress just how much Keith's book has helped me. I'm not sure I can say I'm completely non-fearful flyer - but I'm light years better than I was. Having and understanding the information about plane noises and sensations was the main element - and having the support of Keith and fellow forumites really helped me too. Thank-you.

Happy to answer any questions if I can help others as you've helped me !

Elizabeth - Verona and back at 36,000' Post your story>

"Keith I felt the best ever on both flights EVEN though once we were seated on outward flight the pilot greeted us on board with the words there would be a delay as an electronic component had to be replaced!!!!!.

A little white van appeared and technician entered cock pit with parcel. Just thought what you say about everything being checked and backed up. Remained very calm and watched all the activity outside.

Cloudy once we had taken off but watched the clouds as we cruised at 34,000. BA 737-500 was much the same inside to the Airbus except with fewer rows of seats.

Verona lovely, very historical, good food, capuccinos and window shopped in Gucci, Armani etc.

Homeward flight was just AWESOME. Took off in brilliant sunshine and clear cloudless blue sky. Perfect visiblity could see Milan, clearly and then the ALPS. What a fantastic scene- all my o level geography came alive- glaciated flat bottom valleys, snow capped peaks, settlements, lakes and all this from cruising at 36,000.

Pilot Ian Walker gave commentary on what we could see. Paris rather cloudier as we passed near but then superb view of English coast as we passed over Eastbourne, the South Downs before turning for landing at Gatwick.

Keith you will never know how those few words of yours- the pilot is able to open his DV window- has changed my life. There are so many places to visit."
