LOGBOOK 24/7

We’ve had a few versions of the fear of flying community,

and as time moves on we try to stay up to date

However some of the members of the community aren’t always sure of what help is available on the forum, so I thought I’d just mention a few of the features. Firstly though I have to say that the success of the community is down to the members. It is their openness and willingness to share their experiences that makes it so valuable in helping other people to address their fear of flying. I have to say then, that the most important parts of the community are the discussions that go on between people, the support for each other and the constant encouragement that people give to each other.

We have some truly amazing stories on the site. People who thought they would never ever, in a million years overcome their fear…and yet do. People who suddenly ‘Go for it’ and start a new life, and many that struggle for ages and who eventually and with the most amazing courage take the flight that they so feared.

With over 2050 members we are the biggest fear of flying community on the internet. There is no encouraging people to spend money, we rarely mention our products …there is no commercial angle, and that’s why I think it is so successful…we’re here to help each other.

Just a word about our style…we don’t do a slap on the back and you’ll be alright on the night stuff. We don’t do trickling water and tree hugging. We don’t do psych0 babble because we don’t do theories about the brain…we do it as it is.¬† Down to earth straight talking stuff because we’re in it for you, so we do what works.

We have lots of videos on the site which you should watch over and over until you can remember every word and caption. This normalises flying. The videos of a fearful flyer controlling a simulator¬† in severe turbulence, taking-off and even doing a Go Around , should inspire you and help you to normalise flying. Remember pilots don’t pay extra premiums on their life insurance.

We have discussions where you can talk to like minded people about your particular worries

There are audio tracks, and pictures that fearful flyers have taken on their trips around the world.

There are groups where you can talk to like minded people or people who live near you.

The map of where people live hopefully encourages people to contact each other and maybe even visit. It’s always good to have a supporter at the other end of your flight.

What causes planes to loose control when it exceeds its angle of attack?

admin June 10, 2012 at 10:22 am

Hi,
The angle of attack is the angle between the way the plane is pointing and the way it’s going…and it has to do with the angle that the air meets the wing. When this angle is too high (approx 14 degrees) the wing loses most of its lift. However on airliners there is a system that prevents this from happening.

Don’t be confused by the angle that a plane takes off or climbs at…this is not the angle of attack.

Hope this helps Captain Keith
